MONTBLANC MASTERS OF ART FOUNTAIN PEN HOMAGE TO VINCENT VAN GOGH
With Montblanc Masters of Art Homage to Vincent van Gogh Limited Edition 4810, Montblanc celebrates Vincent Van Gogh, one of the most celebrated painters of the 19th century. In particular, this edition evokes the period the artist spent in Arles, with decorative details recalling the wheat fields of Provence, as well as one of his most famous paintings, "Sunflowers". The number 1888 engraved on the body ring-next to Vincent's signature in bright orange-recalls the year he moved to Arles. The body is decorated in shades of yellow and orange that evoke the sun-drenched landscapes of southern France, while the famous series of five sunflower paintings inspired the embossed version on the handcrafted Au 750 rhodium-finished solid gold nib. Van Gogh developed a freer, more flexible style and became proficient with both brush and palette knife, which he used to lay thicker, more impetuous strokes of colour, creating works with "impasto" painting. Its spatula inspired platinum finish clip, while its broad strokes are evoked by the yellow lacquer on the top of the cap. Moreover, his passion for the pipe, present in many of his self-portraits, is captured in a fine detail of the clip: the top is shaped like the head of a pipe and filled with fine yellow resin. In homage to Vincent's love of traditional Japanese woodcuts, the overall shape is inspired by a Japanese carving knife, while the cap is made of wood. The edition is crowned with a Montblanc emblem in fine yellow resin.
